Preparation Steps
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
In a separate bowl, combine sugar, oil, and egg. Beat until well combined.
Add applesauce to the wet ingredients and mix well.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Stir in chopped walnuts, if using.
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
